Farm Assistant (7106)

Responsibilities:
1. Tractor Operation:
o Operate tractors and other machinery for various farming activities, including plowing, planting, and harvesting.
o Ensure the proper maintenance and safe operation of all farm equipment.
2. Crop Planting and Management:
o Participate in planting and cultivating a variety of fruit and vegetables, hay following best agricultural practices.
o Monitor and assess crop health, implementing measures to ensure optimal growth.
3. Equipment Maintenance and Repair:
o Perform routine maintenance on farm equipment, including tractors, plows, and other machinery.
o Troubleshoot and repair equipment breakdowns promptly to minimize downtime.
4. Flexibility in Farm Tasks:
o Adapt to varying tasks and responsibilities as needed on the farm.
o Assist in animal care, irrigation, and other farm-related activities.
5. Fruit and Vegetable Cultivation:
o Collaborate with the team to plan, plant, and harvest vegetables.
o Implement sustainable and organic farming practices when applicable.
6. Animal Care:
o Care for farm animals (pigs, chickens), ensuring their well-being and health.
o Assist in feeding, cleaning, and managing animal housing.
7. Farm Market Operations:
o Contribute to the setup, operation, and maintenance of the farm market.
o Interact with customers, providing information about products and ensuring a positive experience.
Requirements:
1. Previous experience in farm work, with a focus on tractor operation, planting, harvesting and equipment maintenance.
2. Mechanical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and repair farm equipment.
3. Flexibility in tasks and willingness to contribute to various aspects of farm operations.
4. Comfortable working with animals and knowledge of basic animal care.
5. Familiarity with operating and maintaining a farm market is a plus.
6. Strong work ethic, reliability, and the ability to work in various weather conditions.
7. Valid driver's license, clean driving record and no drug, tobacco, or alcohol use while working.

Knowledge of John Deer and New Holland tractors
knowledge of use of accumulators for hay production
ability to make decisions as to when to cut hay
Ability to drive and hook up a heavy duty truck and trailer properly

We own a Market and Deli operation and two food trucks. Employee will be able to contribute to either of those operations when farm activities are slow. The hired employee may also be able to raise their own seasonal livestock and/or vegetables.

Salary Range: 15-20/hour
