Description
A herdsman is needed for a 200 acre, 75 head cattle ranch on Orcas Island, WA. Hands-on responsibility for care and feeding of livestock as well as maintenance of ranch equipment and facilities. Salary is negotiable depending on experience.
Responsibilities
Feed livestock, monitor pasture and grazing lands, move animals for rotational grazing.
Assist in haying operation.
Inspect ranch structures, such as buildings, fences or roads, and perform maintenance activities as needed.
Inspect and repair ranch equipment to ensure proper functioning.
Qualifications
Must be able bodied and capable of doing manual work
Must have experience driving and maintaining tractors and ranch equipment
Must have proficiency with ranching equipment and heavy machinery, such as baler, mowers and chainsaws
Must possess current and valid Driver’s License
Must have reliable means of transportation
Must be able to follow directions and instructions with limited supervision
Must pass background check and have verifiable references
Experience Requirements
Actual ranch experience is required, preferably with cattle
