Description

Sonny’s Farm is seeking a farm manager for our Northern California Farm in Rescue. We are seeking a true partner who is looking for a long-term opportunity to grow with us. The farm currently operates on a 140 acre property (former golf course) with potential to add additional acreage. Our cows, pigs, sheep, goats and chicken create a rich, biodiverse environment for plants, wild animals, birds, insects, and pollinators. Together with our Florida farm, we aim to become the source of premiere, highest-quality, nutrient-dense food while building a community of people that are passionate about health, animals, sustainability, biodiversity, and natural beauty.

Responsibilities

As a Farm Manager, your responsibilities will encompass a range of tasks focused on sustainable agricultural practices, ecological stewardship, and effective management of farm resources.

Holistic Livestock Management: Oversee the health and well-being of all livestock, including cattle, sheep, pigs, and chickens, ensuring they are raised in a humane, ethical, and sustainable manner. Manage cattle breeding programs to maintain healthy genetic diversity and improve herd quality.
Pasture & Soil Health Management: Manage pastures and forage resources to ensure sustainable grazing and optimal nutrition for the livestock. Implement and oversee practices that enhance soil fertility and health, including rotational grazing, pasture diversity and health, composting. Monitor and evaluate sustainability metrics to assess the environmental impact of farm practices and make data-driven decisions for improvements.
Infrastructure Building and Management: Build and maintain all farm infrastructure including fencing, irrigation, farm structures, equipment and vehicles.
Production Planning: Work with sales and processing team to provide strategic direction and management related to product planning including livestock production and pasture management.
Staff Leadership and Development: Take the lead in recruiting, training, and managing a dedicated team of farm staff, instilling in them a deep understanding and commitment to regenerative livestock farming practices. Oversee all aspects of farm operations and processing, orchestrating daily activities and projects with efficiency and foresight. Cultivate a workplace culture that thrives on positivity, proactive problem-solving, and a spirited can-do attitude, fostering an environment where enthusiasm and constructive momentum are at the heart of everything we do.
Financial Management: Manage the farm's budget, including allocating resources for equipment, seeds, labor, and other operational costs.
Support on-site sales including:
On-site product inventory management.
Management related to processing including scheduling, ensuring product quality and consistency.
Overseeing fulfillment, including shipping, in-store and wholesale customers.

Qualifications

If you have minimum of 2 years of regenerative farming experience and have been in leadership positions before, we would like to hear from you.

Valid driver's license.
