Description

As we grow our CSA this year, we are ready to bring on a motivated team member who is eager to learn small-scale farming. We are still on a learning journey as well, constantly experimenting and growing. The fact that we are only a few years into this journey has pros and cons for someone wanting to learn alongside us. On the one hand, you will not be exposed to finely-honed, long-proven systems for horticultural and financial success that you might be exposed to at a more established farm. On the other hand, you will get to be more broadly involved in all the tasks of growing and running a farm than you might be able to at a larger farm. We will likely be more open to your ideas for how to innovate and improve systems. There will be ample room to employ your creativity and problem solving skills to help us develop the farm into the best version of itself. You will get to learn from both our successes and very likely from some failures as well.

This job would be part-time, approximately 20 hours per week. Typical schedule would be half days three days a week, plus a full day of harvesting on Fridays.

Farm or Business Description

Weathertree Farm is a 58 acre farm in southwest Ohio, currently producing mixed vegetables on approximately 1/2 an acre for a 45 member CSA and on-farm weekend market. We utilize beyond organic practices, with a focus on soil health and sustainability. We are a young farm; our first commercial season was 2023. Alongside our commercial market garden, we are investing time and effort into long-term property development, preparing u-pick stands of raspberries, blackberries, and asparagus; and planning agroforestry development of the rest of the (rolling) land. In addition to our fruits and veggies, we raised several pastured pigs each season and have a flock of pasture-raised laying hens.
