CSA Planting Crew Lead (6576)

Johnson’s Backyard Garden is seeking a capable person to supervise and lead our farm planting crews. This individual oversees 2 to 3 teams (6-10 workers) in the completion of the applicable responsibilities.
Follow verbal and written instructions from the Assistant Farm Manager for what to plant/seed, where, when, and how
Plant vegetable transplants by hand or with tractor-operated transplanter
Direct seed by hand
Hand loading of transplants from greenhouses to trailers
Aiding with plant preparation
Greenhouse work including soil preparation and seeding
Harvesting and weeding crops by hand and with hand tools
General farm work

Required:
Dependable, hard-working, flexible
Willingness to work extra hours during seasonal peaks
An interest in agriculture and promotion of local and organic farming
Ability to work effectively in both independent and collaborative settings, maintaining a positive team dynamic
Basic Spanish competency
Preferred:
Prior experience on farm
Basic knowledge of crops, seedlings, and soil types
Previous experience operating tractors & familiarity with related implements
Spanish fluency
Physical Requirements
Ability to repeatedly lift 50lbs
Ability to repeatedly kneel, bend, and squat
Ability to withstand exposure to varying weather conditions
Ability to withstand prolonged sitting, standing, and walking
Schedule: Full-time, Typically Monday-Friday 6:30AM-3:00PM with weekend work based on seasonal needs

Compensation is dependent on experience. Expected salary range is $16-$18/hour. Paid bi-weekly. Permanent employees are eligible for Individual Health Plan benefits.
