Description
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Produce: Plant, weed, prune and harvest fruit and vegetables. Produce to include apples, berries, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, kale, lettuce, corn, garlic, potatoes. (Produce list may expand or change by season and interest of the owners.)
Fields: Keep fields well weeded, neat and all produce clearly labeled with signs. Set up and take down fencing around fields at the beginning and end of the outdoor growing season. Set up irrigation drip lines in spring and neatly roll up, label, and store for the winter.
Greenhouse: Maintain overall organization and cleanliness of greenhouse. Maintain cold crops in greenhouse throughout winter months, (Kale, lettuce, herbs). Use greenhouse to start seedlings in the spring for transplanting outdoors. Monitor propane levels in winter for heat.
Orchard: Weed, prune, fertiliize, irrigate and spray insecticide when necessary. Pick apples, collect fallen apples and produce cider in season. Outside spray contractor assistance in first 1-2 years. Keep grass in orchard area cut and neat between rows.
Christmas trees: Regular care to include weed, prune, fertilize, irrigate and spray insecticide when necessary.
Firewood: Split wood from logs using splitter, store in neat, water protected stacks on-site. Deliver to other properties as requested.
Delivery of farm produce and eggs to owners.
Goats: Daily care of goats including feed, water, and cleaning goat shed and pen every other day. Weekly relocation of electric fencing for poison ivy and weed control. Overall care of goat health including deworming, vaccinating, hoof trimming.
Chickens: Daily care of chickens to include feed, water, collect and store eggs and weekly chicken tractor cleaning. Routine re-location of tractor.
Inventory Maintenance: Call in weekly order of animal feed, bedding, and supplies as needed.
EQUIPMENT/PROPERTY CARE
Maintain excellent care of all on-site tools, equipment and machinery. Clean all equipment after every use.
Assist with tune ups or repairs of farm equipment as needed.
Put away all equipment at the end of each work day.
