Description
The Plant Health Care Specialist is a connoisseur in their field. They are observant, careful, meticulous, and interested in the world around them. Working with the tree crews and sales consultants, the PHC Specialist focuses their time on ensuring the health and care of clients’ trees, concurrent with any production work that the client might be having done. They monitor, diagnose, and treat pest and disease infestations, utilizing the appropriate treatment for each condition. A successful candidate doesn’t need to have their pesticide applicator’s license or a degree in an arboricultural field, but they do need to be engaged, self-motivated, and willing to put the work in to get the job done.
Schedule:
Seasonal : part-time in winter, moving to full time in summer.
(The job scope for this position, outlined below, fluctuates with the demand of the season so hours will range from 10-20 in the winter to 30-40 in the summer)
Responsibilities
Perform tree and shrub care treatments using a variety of methods (spray, injections, soil drench, etc.) according to industry best practices and general guidelines.
Conduct applications and treatments in a timely manner, assuring quality and effective care of the trees and shrubs.
Mix and apply treatments to trees and shrubs according to work scope, safety precautions, label instructions, and any applicable state and federal regulations.
Properly maintain and operate any equipment and vehicles according to company guidelines. This can include everything from a company truck to a spray applicator. The expectation is that - after use - they are clean, put away, and ready for their next use.
Interact respectfully with clients while onsite, answering any questions and relaying any relevant information.
Communicate any relevant feedback or observations to the team, ensuring continuous, quality care for the client.
Accurately track all treatments and completed jobs, ensuring that the relevant information is relayed to appropriate parties to ensure timely billing and client follow-up.
Qualifications
A valid NC drivers license
Ability to pass a criminal background check
An interest in the work being done. You don’t have to know it now, but the most successful candidate will be excited by all that there is to learn from this role.
Ability to work outdoors in a variety of conditions and doing a variety of tasks, including but not limited to standing, walking, lifting, carrying, kneeling, and reaching.
