Today’s featured farm at the Dairy Cow Birthing Center is Merrell Dairy of Wolcott, New York. The Merrell family milk 2,700 cows and milk them on a rotary parlor, which their son described as a “merry-go-round”.

Karen Merrell, owner of the farm with her husband, Jon, says, “One of the things that I really enjoy is just seeing the miracle of life on a daily basis, whether it be new animals being born, whether it be watching a baby calf grow into an animal that’s getting ready to have a calf of her own and become a milking animal. Watching the crops grow in the fields, you know the seeds turning into plants and growing into a corn crop and we get to watch those miracles of life everyday all around us. And not everybody sees that and I think that’s pretty neat.”
