Description
Full time position caring for 125 acre agricultural property with several barns and outbuildings.
Responsibilities
Year-round responsibilities:
-Maintain fencing and replace/upgrade as necessary
-Maintain outbuildings, including weekly sweeping/blowing of horse barn, small animal barn and party barn.
-Manage inventory including ordering, picking up, and organizing feed and farm supplies
-Muck out goats daily and cows weekly. Possible mucking out of horses in future.
-Scoop chicken coop daily
-Empty muck pile to compost heap weekly or as necessary
-Feed and water chickens, goats, cows, and potentially horses
-Bring in and sort packages
Warm weather responsibilities:
-Mow approximately 5 acres of grass biweekly
-Trim around and under pasture fences
-Maintain approximately 25 acres of pasture, brush hogging, dragging, weeding,and string trimming as necessary
-Restore and maintain riding arena and round pen
-Basic mulching, weeding, and pruning of landscaped areas
-Control invasive weeds in other areas of the property
-Cut and maintain trails
-Paint outbuildings and fencing (approximately one building and one pasture area per summer, or as time allows)
-One-off landscaping projects, including rebuilding vegetable garden, planting orchard, etc.
-One-off carpentry projects, including repair of decking, construction of screens for dumpster and A/C unit
-Sweep / blow off front porch, pool area and driveway every few days
-Setup outdoor furniture for the season
-Power wash stairs and outdoor furniture season
Cold weather responsibilities:
-Clean outdoor furniture, umbrellas and pool supplies and move inside for winter
-Rake or blow leaves from approx 5 acres of lawn
-Trim and winterize vegetable and flower gardens
-wash down windows and exterior of the house and barns once per season
-Maintain / renew gravel on paths and driveways throughout property
-Shovel snow from porches, decks, doorways and sidewalks around buildings
-Plow driveways and other estate roads as necessary
-Maintain and winterize livestock water systems
-Maintain and service machinery
-Clean out chicken coop at the beginning and end of the season
-One-off indoor projects, potentially including upgrading stall doors, removing concrete from indoor barn, build indoor shelving etc.
-Leftover summer projects as weather permits
Experience Requirements
Desired Skills/Experience:
Experience with tractors, mowers, and basic machinery
Basic carpentry and maintenance skills
Livestock experience or love of animals and willingness to learn
Interest or experience in basic yardwork and landscaping
Ability to execute on tasks with minimal supervision
Eye for detail / commitment to high quality upkeep
Desire to work outdoors and ability to lift up to 50 lbs
