Description
This is an entry-level, hands-on position working outdoors in the vineyard. No prior experience is required, we’re willing to train the right person.
Vineyard work is a process that unfolds over the course of a full growing season. What we do in March carries into April, builds through summer, and ultimately leads to harvest. It takes time, often a full year to really understand how everything connects.
If you’re looking for fast results or a typical indoor job, this isn’t it. If you’re interested in learning a craft, working with your hands, and being part of something that develops over time, you’ll get a lot out of this role.
What the Work Is Like
• Physical, outdoor work in all weather conditions
• Seasonal pace: when the vines are growing, the work comes with them
• Busy season can mean 9–10 hour days, up to 6 days a week
• Slower months return to a more standard 40-hour work week with weekends off
We work on nature’s schedule, not a desk schedule.
What You’ll Do
• Pruning, planting, canopy management, and harvest work
• General vineyard and farm maintenance
• Work closely with a small team throughout the growing season
• Learn how a vineyard operates from the ground up
Farm or Business Description
Alba Vineyard is a family-owned and operated estate winery in New Jersey, farming premium vineyards in the Warren Hills AVA. We are a hands-on team that works together in the vines year-round, with a shared goal of growing the best possible fruit from our land.
Our approach is rooted in sustainable viticulture, focusing on soil health, vine balance, and long-term stewardship of the vineyard. Everything we do is about building quality over time, not taking shortcuts.
We specialize in cool-climate varieties including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, and Cabernet Franc. These grapes require careful attention throughout the season, and every decision in the vineyard directly impacts what ends up in the bottle.
At the end of the day, we’re a working farm. We’re outside together, putting in the hours, adapting to the season, and learning year by year. The goal is simple: make the best wine we can from this site, one growing season at a time.
