Farm Maintenance Manager
Pay: Min $25/hour. Negotiable upward based on experience and Skill Set.
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated full-time Farm Maintenance Manager to join our team! In this role, you will oversee the maintenance and upkeep of our horse rescue property, equipment, and facilities while helping ensure a safe, functional, and efficient environment for both staff and equines. This role is hands-on and includes facility maintenance, groundskeeping, equipment oversight, and *pasture management.
Job Description
Renaissance Equine Rescue & Welfare Foundation is dedicated to rescuing equines of all ages, breeds, and physical conditions. We rehabilitate, train, and rehome those able to recover while providing sanctuary for equines with special needs, ensuring they remain with us for the rest of their lives. Currently, our facility cares for approximately 42 equines, half of whom are sanctuary equines.
We are seeking a Farm Maintenance Manager who will bring a strong work ethic, practical problem-solving skills, and pride in maintaining a safe and well-kept farm environment. The ideal candidate should be proficient in English (spoken and written), self-motivated, dependable, and able to work well independently and within a team environment. Applicants must also have valid documentation to work in the United States.
Primary Duties
- Performing general property maintenance including fencing, gates, barns, water systems, lighting, and repairs.
- Overseeing pasture and grounds management including mowing, bush hogging, dragging, weed control, seeding, fertilizing, and irrigation as needed. *We will consider candidates without pasture management experience.
- Operating and maintaining tractors, zero turns, skid steers, RTVs, and other farm equipment safely and efficiently.
- Monitoring equipment condition and coordinating and completing routine maintenance and repairs.
- Maintaining farm roads, paddocks, turnout areas, and common spaces to ensure safety and functionality.
- Assisting with storm cleanup, drainage issues, tree removal, and seasonal property projects.
- Performing light farm chores and supporting overall daily operations as needed.
- Managing maintenance-related supply inventory and communicating property needs to leadership.
- Coordinating with outside contractors and vendors when necessary.
- Assisting with event setup, deliveries, and special projects around the rescue property.
Skills and Physical Requirements
- Prior experience in farm, ranch, landscaping, construction, or facility maintenance preferred.
- Experience operating tractors and farm equipment required.
- Basic knowledge of pasture management, groundskeeping, irrigation, and general farm maintenance.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Physical ability to lift 75 pounds, bend, twist, climb, and perform manual labor in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and maintain a high standard of organization.
- Driving John Deere Gators or similar RTVs for farm navigation.
- Driving Truck & Trailer.
- Must have a valid Driver’s license.
- Horse experience is helpful but not required.
