Farm Manager (7543)

Seeking an experienced highly dependable Farm Manager to oversee the care of a private 130-acre farm in Dutchess County, New York.

This is a long-term, live-on position at a beautiful property for someone who is adept at providing animal care, as there is a small group of equine, and managing a farm.

Farm with seasonal hay production as the principal farming activity.  The farm is home to a small group of equines requiring routine daily care.

Daily care and management of the donkeys and other quines, including feeding, watering, health monitoring and administrating medications as directed.

Overseeing hay production, including coordination of mowing, baling, storage, sale of hay and related farming activities.

Maintaining pastures, paddocks, fencing and gates, and the water systems.

Operating and maintaining tractors, farm equipment, and implements.

General maintenance of barns, outbuildings, farm roads, infrastructure, woodlands, including now removal, storm and tree cleanup.

Coordinating with veterinarians, farriers, suppliers and other service providers.

Monitoring the property, identifying maintenance needs before they become problems and responding appropriately to emergencies.

Maintaining organized records or animal care, equipment maintenance and farm operations.

Overseeing occasional farm improvement and infrastructure projects, coordinating with contractors and other professionals as needed.

Communicating regularly with owners regarding priorities, projects, and property needs.

Must have previous experience working with equines.

Be comfortable operating and maintaining farm equipment

Possess strong mechanical and troubleshooting abilities.

Be highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
