Where We Came From
Since 1890, at least one member of my extended family has been a vegetable farmer. I happen to be the next in that line. Since 2004, my family and I have owned and operated our own family farm, The Martin Family Farm. We started on a small 5 acre farm and have since moved to our current farm in Armada Township, which consists of 21 acres and 7500 square feet of cold frame greenhouses. In 2006, when my then 3 and 4 year old girls were out picking cherry tomatoes right off the vine and straight into their mouths I realized that I could never again spray any chemical onto any vegetable I grew. It was a selfish reason to start for the health of my family, but since then it has become the core of my philosophy of farming and taking care of the ground I am so privileged to tend.
Who We Are
We are a certified USDA local organic family farm and grow everything from artichokes to zucchini. We pick and plant everything we grow by hand with good old hard work. You can find our produce at farmers markets, grocery stores, local restaurants and by joining our CSA. Our top priority is quality! The majority of our vegetables are less than 24 hours old by the time they are on your table. There is nothing better than fresh vegetables just picked! Their taste is simply unbeatable!
What We Believe In
The biggest part of our philosophy is the belief of a "farm family." As our farm family grows through restaurants, our CSA, or farmers markets, so does the idea of sustainable local organic family farms. A true sense of community evolves through knowing where your food comes from. You become part of the circle. A circle that includes everyone who believes that as a community we can truly care about people as individuals by knowing what they do and who they are. We can accept differences while still striving to be a vibrant and healthy "farm family!"
Be well and healthy,
Farmer Matt
