Description
1. Maintaining and servicing equipment
a. Oil changes, filter changes, etc on scraping tractors, skidsteers, and feeding equipment
b. Servicing and preparing trucks, tractors, implements for spring work
c. Monitoring inventory in the shop (filters, grease, oil, etc)
d. Maintaining an organized work environment
2. Manure system
a. Gaining an understanding of the inner workings of the manure system
b. Helping fix breakdowns as needed
3. Sand lane
a. Daily task of cleaning the sand lane with the loader
b. Spreading solids as needed
c. Sand management: includes hauling dry sand to the storage barn and keeping sand piles turned over as needed to promote drying
4. Assisting with barn maintenance as needed
a. Fixing freestalls
b. Curtains
c. Fans
5. Defacing and hauling feed as needed
6. Learn to feed heifers and cows to fill in as needed
7. Helping with crops where needed. Jobs may include:
a. Plowing, discing, field cultivating, mulching, rolling
b. Mowing hay
c. Merging hay
d. Spreading manure
e. Driving truck
f. Operating the chopper
g. Pushing/packing bunk
h. Covering bunk
i. Fixing breakdowns
8. Other responsibilities may include:
a. Bedding cows/heifers
b. Helping to move heifers
c. Miscellaneous
Qualifications
Heavy equipment operation
Basic mechanical ability (scheduled maintenance on trucks and tractors)
Ability to work well with others
