Description
The Remick Country Doctor Museum & Farm (www.remickmuseum.org), located in the historic village of Tamworth, NH, seeks a year-round Farm Assistant. This position reports to the Farm Manager and the successful candidate will participate in general farm work with a strong emphasis on mechanical ability and hay crop harvesting, both dry hay and wrapped silage production. Specific duties include: oversight of nutrient management plan including collecting, hauling, and spreading of fertilizers and yearly soil sampling; maintain and repair farm equipment as needed (tractor, pick up truck, hay balers both round and small square, rake, tedder, bale wrapper, manure spreader, etc.); assist in keeping detailed records for equipment maintenance; set up and help run small, wood-fired maple syrup operation in the late winter/early spring. The successful candidate will occasionally participate in animal care, such as feeding and milking duties, and, as such, must be comfortable handling beef and dairy cattle and other small livestock (chickens, goats, sheep, and pigs). Tractor operation is necessary with experience in both automatic and manual transmission equipment. The ideal candidate will have a flexible and adaptive personality with strong communication skills and looking to invest in a team environment but also capable of completing individual tasks.

Qualifications
Must be 18 years of age or older, have a valid driver’s license, and be willing to undergo a background check. Prior experience in farming, farm equipment operation, and basic maintenance duties is preferred. This position requires the ability to lift 50 lbs and work outside in rain, heat, cold, and snow. This is a full time position that will primarily weekdays (Monday through Friday) but requires significant flexibility depending primarily on the haying schedule which is dictated by the weather.
Benefits
Salary is commensurate with experience, with range beginning at $18/hr. Health insurance benefits available after 90 days. Potential housing on site.
