Description
We’re looking for dedicated individuals who love farming and teamwork. Ideally, we want people interested in long-term roles. Positions include part-time (30+ hours/week) from November to May and full-time (40+ hours/week) from June to October.
As a member of the production field crew at Maitri Farm, you will be involved in a wide range of tasks, including seeding, planting, cultivating, irrigation, pest and disease control, mowing and brush clearing, greenhouse work, harvesting, packing CSA boxes, preparing bouquets, fulfilling orders, habitat restoration, assisting in building farm infrastructure/equipment and making local deliveries. You will understand how to run a sustainable cut flower and vegetable farm. All employees are expected to be prompt, dressed appropriately, and professional in their attitude to work.
Qualifications
- Should have at least two seasons of experience working on a farm or in a similar setting.
- Candidates with the intention to stay for more than one season are preferred
- Must be self-motivated to work quickly and efficiently, whether alone or in a group, regardless of whether the task is time-sensitive or monotonous.
- Should be positive, enthusiastic, and able to see the big picture while paying close attention to detail.
- Must be able to work all day on their feet, lifting heavy objects, regardless of the weather.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Should be eager to take on responsibilities on the farm and be interested in continuing for more than one season at this farm, adding new responsibilities as time goes on.
- Should have a genuine interest in agricultural production.
- Must possess a solid physical and mental work ethic, a sense of pace and self-awareness, and a desire to participate in daily fieldwork as a productive farm crew member.
- Should desire to learn and improve one’s skill set and knowledge base.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, anchored in successfully completing specific tasks.
- Should be willing to collaborate and work well with others, including coworkers and the public.
