Description
Farm hand needed for a 250 acre farm (plus leased ground) with 100+ head herd rotational grazing beef and herdshare dairy operation. We produce dairy products (fluid milk, butter, and cream), 100% grass-fed/finished beef, free-range chicken eggs, pastured poultry and pigs, honey, and seasonal produce as some of our farm products. Our farming practices do not use herbicides or pesticides.
Also on the farm is a custom lumber operation which allows us to produce building materials for farm infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
- Fence building/moving (permanent and temporary) for cattle
- Equipment operation (tractors, hay equipment, loaders, small power and hand tools)
- Work outdoors in all types of weather
- Working with cattle (dairy and beef)
- Assisting with calving and medical as needed
- Milking cows and bottling
- Moving pigs and meat birds (chickens) on pasture, feeding and watering (seasonal)
- Moving poultry tractors daily on pasture, cleaning coops, feeding & watering chickens
- Processing and packaging broilers (seasonal)
- Planning/packing for markets and deliveries
- Delivery of farm products to retail store customers as needed
- Assist with farm maintenance and building construction
- Ability to assist with and learn equipment maintenance
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs repeatedly
- Willing and able to make decisions in a fluid working environment
Qualifications
Must have livestock farm experience
Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driver's record
Ability to run farm equipment (experience or learn)
Must be able to legally work in the United States and speak fluent English
No tobacco or vaping use on the property
