Description

Full-time technician with the skills necessary to maintain, diagnose, and repair farm machinery such as tractors, semi-tractors, implements, grain handling equipment, etc. This job also includes operating farm machinery, especially during planting and harvest season. CDL is not required, but we can help you attain it if you are hired.
Our ideal candidate has worked as a mechanic or been trained as a mechanic. High school diploma and driver's license required.

Farm or Business Description

Pleasantland Farm is a fifth-generation family farm located just east of Washington, Illinois. We raise conventional and organic corn, soybeans, and wheat that is stored in our own grain storage facility and hauled to local processors. There are many moving parts to our operation which means working here requires readiness for hard work, willingness to do and learn whatever is needed, and flexibility. Every day presents new tasks and new challenges, which means it's never boring!

Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance: Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on farm machinery, such as tractors, harvesters, and other equipment.

General Farm Operations: Perform a variety of tasks related to the daily operations of the farm, including planting and harvesting crops. Operate and maintain farm equipment and machinery safely and efficiently.

Heavy Equipment and Earthmoving Operations: Perform tree removal, drainage, land-forming and terrace building operations. Operate dozers, excavators, graders, etc. using both manual and GPS grade control technology.

Harvesting and Post-Harvest Operations: Participate in the harvesting of crops, while ensuring efficient and timely operations. Assist with post-harvest handling of grain.

Qualifications

*Previous experience maintaining and repairing farm equipment, semi-trucks, and other vehicles. (preferred)

* Knowledge of farm equipment operation and maintenance.

* Willing to work long hours as necessary.

* Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in a safe manner.

* Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

* Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

* Familiarity with crop planting, maintenance, and harvesting techniques (preferred).

* Hold a valid CDL or a willingness to obtain one (preferred).
