Description
Working on a 100+ head herd rotational grazing herdshare dairy & beef farm operation both independently and as a team. We produce dairy products (fluid milk, butter, and cream), 100% grass-fed/finished beef, free-range chicken eggs, pastured poultry and pigs, honey, and seasonal produce as some of our farm products. Our farming practices do not use herbicides or pesticides. The main farm is 250 acres with additional leased ground.
We are in the western part of Dinwiddie County, in Wilsons, VA. The town of Blackstone is approximately 15 minutes to the west, and Petersburg/Colonial Heights, approximate 45 minutes to the east. We can be in Richmond, VA in about an hour.
Also on the farm is a portable sawmill which allows us to produce building materials for farm infrastructure projects.
Require ownership of duties, work in all types of weather, proactively engage in improving methods and processes, attention to detail, self-motivated, and able to work without supervision.
Work hours may also include nights, mornings, holidays, and weekends as the need arises, and in all types of weather conditions.
Must have either agricultural experience, or a strong desire to work in the agricultural field. We are not a hobby farm. We expect all employees to adhere to humane animal care and food safety protocols.

Responsibilities:
- Fence building (permanent and temporary) for cattle
- Equipment operation (tractors, hay equipment, loaders, small power and hand tools)
- Work outdoors in all types of weather
- Working with cattle (dairy and beef)
o Rotational grazing
o Assisting with calving and medical as needed
- Milking cows and bottling milk for delivery or farm pick up.
- Working with pigs
- Rotational grazing
- Feeding/watering
- Working with poultry
o Moving poultry tractors and portable coops daily on pasture
o Processing and packaging broilers
o Collecting, washing, and packaging eggs
- Planting, maintaining, and harvesting produce in greenhouse
- Marketing
o Attending local farmer’s markets as needed
o Planning/packing for markets and weekly deliveries
o Delivery of farm products to retail store customers as needed
- Assist with farm maintenance and building construction
- Ability to assist with and learn equipment maintenance
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs repeatedly
- Willing and able to make decisions in a fluid working environment
Qualifications
Must have experience in agriculture or a strong desire to work in the agricultural field. This is not a hobby farm; only serious applicants need apply.
Benefits
- Pay commensurate with experience
- We pay via direct deposit bi-weekly
- There is no housing available on the farm at present. However, we might have room to have one male bunk with another male employee (two separate bed areas, common kitchen and bathroom). We may also be able to accommodate a full-time employee who has a camper and would like to park on the farm. We can accommodate a couple in that circumstance, but both must work full-time and may not have the same schedule.
- Ability to work on holidays and weekends a must.
- No smoking, other tobacco use, or vaping allowed on the 250 acre farm, or any of our leased land.
- Cannot be allergic to peanuts as we have no ability to accommodate such an allergy.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
