Description
We at White Oak Meadows, require someone who will take ownership of duties, work in all types of weather, self-motivated, pays strong attention to detail, self-motivated, ambitious, eager and willing to learn, dependable, positive attitude, and strong work ethic. These are long days in all kinds of weather conditions. The day ends when the work is completed and all the animals are cared for.
Our farm provides interns hands-on experience with all facets of our farming operation.
Farm or Business Description
Work as a team on a 75 head herd rotational grazing herdshare dairy farm and poultry operation. We produce raw dairy products (fluid milk, butter, and cream), 100% grass-fed/finished beef, free-range chicken eggs, pastured poultry, and honey as some of our farm products. Our farming practices do not use herbicides or pesticides.
Also on the farm is a portable sawmill which allows us to produce garden stakes and building materials for farm infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
- Fence building (permanent and temporary)
- Work outdoors in all types of weather
- Working with cattle (dairy and beef)
- Rotational grazing
- Assisting with calving and medical as needed
- Milking
- Working with poultry
- Moving poultry tractors daily on pasture
- Processing and packaging broilers
- Collecting, washing, and packaging eggs
- Feeding and watering broilers and layers
- Marketing
- Assisting with local farmer’s markets
- Planning/packing for markets
- Interacting with customers for sales and answering questions
- Delivery of farm products to retail store customers
- Maintenance and farm building construction
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs repeatedly
- No smoking or vaping allowed on the farm property
- Good customer interaction skills
- Willing and able to make decisions in a fluid working environment

Qualifications
Desire and ability to work hard in all weather conditions. Bring a good attitude with a desire to learn.
Need to be able to work 5-6 hours/week with flexible hours.
Experience Requirements
No experience needed since this is an internship program.
Educational Requirements
None needed. Need to speak, write and understand fluent English.
Skills
Skillsets which are useful around the farm such as building/construction, electrical, mechanical, equipment operator, etc is useful but not required. Previous work around farm animals is helpful but again, not required.
Need to be able to follow instructions and pay attention to detail.
