Description

Fencing in livestock on a 44ac. hollow. Splitting firewood, feeding livestock, terracing hillsides for water retention, clearing unwanted secondary growth, creating an orchard site, digging out a basement & repairing/replacing bad beams and footings, building forms and making concrete. The list is as long as my arm!

Farm or Business Description

Small off-grid bound homestead nestled in a holler of western, middle Tennessee. Intent on obtaining semi self sufficiency. Utilizing gardening, sourcing my own meat, bartering with locals for what I don’t have time to grow myself. Plenty of slope for rain water catchment, terracing to reduce surplus run off. Establishing a hugelkultur to raise an orchard for fruit and cider. Clearing areas in a rotational pattern in order to plant more desirable species. Typically hot & humid in the summer- cold & damp conditions in the winter.

Responsibilities

Twice daily feeding & waterering of cattle, goats, chickens, rabbits & dogs. Making breakfast (for two) lunch for your self & dinner for two. Assist with projects that I deem necessary for the improvement of the farm. Periodic maintenance on all vehicles, diesel and gassers. Be familiar enough with tractors, to perform chores involving the various implements that are attached to.

Qualifications

Absolutely, must be able to take directions and instruction from the woman owner. Must be experienced on various pieces of equipment- backhoe, tractor, multiple 3-point hitch attachments, log splitter, drivers license necessary for hauling hay & equipment. Work on various vehicles (PM’s), diesel and gassers. Carpentry, foraging, butchering animals, cooking, gardening, laundry etc!!! LIFE

Experience Requirements

Operating tractors & attached implements, Butchering livestock can be learned, tending garden, safe use of chainsaws/splitter, cleaning up behind yourself, cooking, drivers license necessary for hauling hay & equipment! Ability & experience with changing tires, oil, fluids… to be self reliant!

Educational Requirements

The school of hard knocks! Being capable of exchanging ideas, but not taking offense at others opinions. Prefer an individual who is interested in learning new things, and sharing their experiences as well. An agricultural background would be a plus, mechanical skills, knowledge of basic carpentry,
