Description
: Full-time Maintenance Foreman position at private warmblood breeding and training sport horse farm in Lexington, Kentucky. We are looking for an individual with proven management skills and farm management experience to oversee employees and contractors responsible for maintaining the buildings, grounds and associated assets of a premier 800-acre equine facility.
Plan and execute maintenance programs to ensure that barns, housing, equipment, and systems are kept in good condition. Provide ownership with anticipated future capital replacement needs (i.e. roofs, equipment, vehicles, etc.) on an annual basis.
Oversee staff and vendors responsible for maintenance and repairs of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety system, vehicles, and farm equipment. Institute and maintain a written preventive maintenance program to maintain equipment and systems at optimal performance.
Must be able to communicate well with maintenance employees within department and effectively communicate with upper-level management and main office.
Regular review of departmental labor costs and estimate benefit of performing jobs internally or outsourcing to provide optimum balance of efficiency and cost.
Review work schedules for department, including personal time off and on-call duties, to ensure sufficient staff coverage for special events and during peak seasons.
Efficiently organize, prioritize, and implement workload requests.
Vendors and contractors: Provide written specifications for and solicit bids for services and supplies to ensure the best possible pricing and solutions to farm needs.
This is an onsite position and will require weekend hours. The foreman is expected to handle emergencies on nights and weekends including power outages, snow removal and plumbing/HVAC emergencies in barns and homes.
Attend monthly staff meetings and communicate regularly with departmental managers regarding upcoming planned events to be held on the farm or in the Equine Education Center.
Provide management oversight of repair and construction projects to ensure project is on schedule and within budget.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skill and Ability Requirements:
Drive and maintain heavy machinery and farm equipment
Ability to work outdoors for extended periods of time, in all climates/seasons
Handyman skills and basic carpentry skills required
Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems
Proficient and experienced with project/construction management
Proficiency in written and oral communications. Computer literacy including Outlook, Word, and Excel formats.
