Internship Details:
Eager to get your hands dirty growing nutrient-dense organic produce for your local community? Live and work with us on an idyllic historic farm in a rural lush valley in northwestern New Jersey. Learn the ins and outs of small-scale regenerative vegetable farming complete with a beautiful bustling weekly market right on the farm. Housing, produce and monthly stipend included.

Motivated? Enthusiastic? Ready to work? We have two internships available for the upcoming growing season. Come join our small crew of three farmers who have been working together for several seasons. Interns will be provided the necessary training and instruction to be a successful and skilled member of a highly-productive farming operation. You’ll be AMAZED at how much food can be grown by a small crew on an acre and a half! Highly adaptable and eager candidates with a passion for learning will get the most out of the experience.

The work schedule is five days a week with a lunch break usually at noon. Typical workweek is 40 hours but some weeks may be more but not to exceed 50 hours. We start earlier and also end earlier during the summer. Interns will staff one of our farm markets per week which provides a great opportunity to engage with the community, closing the loop of the week’s hard work. We have two markets per week: Friday and Saturday. We rotate the staff to work a Saturday market every other week. During those weeks they will take a weekday off. This allows interns to keep a five day workweek. We believe in a farm-life balance!

Interns will be involved in most of the tasks needed to successfully run our market garden. This includes but not limited to seed starting, greenhouse management, bed preparation, trellising, cultivating, operating a BCS walk behind tractor, transplanting, seeding with our Jang mechanical seeder, irrigation, harvesting, wash/packing of vegetables and market staffing. Often interns will be working in a group with other farm staff members. We have a fast-paced work environment but we like to have fun too! Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have. We hope to hear from you!
