A fantastic opportunity awaits the right candidate who is looking for a full time Ranch Manager position on a 1600-acre Akaushi working Cattle Ranch, located is a rural portion of northeastern Oklahoma. This is a private ranch, and the successful candidate will have proven experience with all aspects of a working cattle ranch.

Ranch Manager Responsibilities 

• Daily monitoring of herd.
• Ensure animals always have adequate access to food and water.
• Monitor health of animals and contact veterinarian as needed.
• Aid in the branding/tagging of animals, including corralling.
• Manage and assist in the vaccination of animals, including corralling.
• Build and maintain fencing and shelters.
• Maintain all ranch equipment.
• Ensure staffing of ranch is adequate including but not limited to hiring, training, and supervising all staff members.
• Plan for irrigation during droughts to ensure animals have adequate feed and water.
• Plant and harvest hay including storage for off growing seasons.
• Administrative recordkeeping including but not limited to employee records, accounting/financial, operational procedures, production procedures, and safety protocols.
• Keep abreast of market and industry trends.
• Always maintain the highest levels of animal welfare.

Qualifications sought are not limited to proven experience in animal husbandry including calving, animal welfare, feeding, range riding, grazing, fencing, irrigation, farming, and feed production. Must have the ability to lead and supervise ranch crews, be able to handle livestock calmly and effectively, identify and solve problems proactively, maintain equipment and accept responsibility. There will also be administrative portions of this position.
