Sod Farm Division Manager (7194)

JB Instant Lawn, is currently seeking an experienced and motivated full-time General Manager to join our team at our farm in Redmond, WA which consists of approximately 200 acres of in production turfgrass, a wholesale nursery and agritourism venues summer and fall.

The general manager is a working manager responsible for the oversight and direction of all operations of the Washington division to achieve the desired goals for productivity, quality, safety and profitability.  The Washington general manager will be a good will ambassador for JB Instant Lawn and all related products.

JB Instant Lawn, A leader in the green industry, is a family-owned company which has specialized in providing beautiful lawns since 1968.  JB farms sod, grass seed, hazelnuts and blueberries in Silverton, Oregon.

• Facilitate and foster open communication, teamwork and unity between Washington teams as well as between Oregon and Washington division
• Work with corporate leadership to plan annual goals/budgets and regularly review results
• Manage, oversee and be willing to assist in sod production, harvest, with office order staff, and trucking to achieve goals and ensure highest quality and exceptional customer service
• Manage the sod inventory
• Oversee and support the Nursery manager to ensure operations are smooth, efficient and profitable
• Oversee and support the JB Family Growers (agritourism division) manager
• Maintain good working relationship with King County and surrounding governmental agencies
• Maintain good relationship with landlord
• Maintain a healthy safe working environment
• Evaluate business process and procedures in order to maximize operating efficiencies and find opportunities
• Regularly review performance data that includes financials, sales, and activity reports/spreadsheets, to monitor and measure division productivity, goal achievement, and overall effectiveness and profitability
• Perform or supervise the recordkeeping of HR issues such as payroll, performance reviews, and hiring and terminations
• Safety is a priority, oversee and help coordinate safety programs within the division
• Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications and experience:

Farm management and operations experience in production farming and/or turf grass

• Have mechanical experience and good understanding of farm equipment operation and maintenance
• Valid drivers license with clean record
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Overall business and people management
• Spanish speaking a plus

Salary range 100-120k plus bonus package and company vehicle.  Benefits  include medical insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, six paid holidays per calendar year, 401k (after one year) and PTO days (start accruing at .0333 per hour worked and increase with years of service).
